Hello, I’m John Shellington, the broker/owner of John Henry Properties. I bring extensive real estate experience to your transaction with 40 years in the Houston real estate market in both finance and real estate sales. During that time, I’ve worked with thousands of clients assuring a successful and satisfying real estate transaction.

My educational background includes undergraduate studies at Furman University’s School of Business and graduate studies at the University of Georgia’s Graduate School of Real Estate. I entered mortgage banking in 1971, and, after working as branch manager for two national mortgage banking companies, I chartered Gulf Coast Mortgage Corporation in 1988 to originate both residential and commercial loans. I was named “2001 Residential Affiliate of the Year” by the Bay Area Board of Realtors. I’ve worked as finance instructor for one of the largest real estate schools in Texas and participate in the continuing education courses and electives provided by the Texas Real Estate Commission.
In 1982, I received my Texas Real Estate Broker License. My current Realtor designations are SMP (Social Media Pro Certification) and SFR (Short Sales and Foreclosures Resource Certification) and REO Certified.
I’m a member of the Houston Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors. On a city and state level, I participate in the Houston Association Political Action Committee and TREPAC (Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee) promoting property rights and interests of home owners in Houston and throughout Texas.
